Hi All,
What an exciting first half of the year we have had. Our shows Paperific in March and Picture to Page in May were hugely successful as was our Christmas in July. We have experienced huge demand for classes as stamping and paper craft popularity has continued to soar. If you think the last six months was good, hold onto your hat for the next. We have a terrific and widely varied class schedule for you all to enjoy as well as shows and special events at the shop.
Firstly some House Keeping: please note we will be closed at 1.30pm on Friday August 1st and Closed on Sunday August 24th due to personal commitments, sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Classes: Teresa has outdone herself this term with some fabulous classes. Her first, the teapot accordion book uses a new range of stamps for us “Just Joanna”. Teresa is on the design team for this American range of stamps, and has had several features published. (Just recently 14 of Teresa’s cards were published in Take 10 magazine!). She loves the quirky artwork and has done some amazing things with them. As an introduction at the class on Monday 28th July she will have lots of stamp give a ways and a lucky door prize. As well as a great class, you can come along and join in the fun.
We welcome back Joan this term with her 3D explosion gift box. This folds flat to go in your envelope but opens up for a great effect when “set free”.
Kerry has all but given up in trying to organize me so now she is starting on you. She has designed a method for you to record your stamps inks and other bits and pieces so you can spend your time more effectively. I have included some old favorites due to popular demand but some terrific new classes as well. One of the new classes is for the rooky card maker. I have had so many requests over the years from people to learn paper sizes and envelopes as well as general scoring and design techniques I have packaged it all into a class packed with information.
Have a look at the schedule and class descriptions and please if you need an explanation give me a call or pop into the shop and have a look at samples on display.
Don’t forget our FREE make and Takes on the last Saturday of the month. These are very popular and give you an opportunity to come along and have a play with the featured product. July features Alison Ellis designs papers. These are highly versatile foiled papers which are easily adapted to cards. August gives you the chance to play with the range of templates on the market including the “Crealies” patchwork templates and September kicks off your Christmas cards with some simple ideas. Please note we now have two sittings and these sessions are absolutely 100% Free. All you need to bring is yourself.
Children’s Classes continue on the Wednesdays in the September Holidays. These are incredibly popular with both sessions being chock a block last term.
We have some wonderful new products in the shop and some still on their way. Just arrived virtually as I write is the new range of Christmas Cuttlebug embossing folders and cut and emboss dies. If you were impressed with what was available before, well be prepared to be knocked off your feet. The new embossers are just beautiful and will make our card making that bit easier. The Christmas ones are gorgeous and with the addition of a bit of glitter the work’s done. I ordered heaps but they are selling very fast.
Next month we are expecting a shipment of the New making memories slice machine. This is a new cutting machine but is much smaller than the Cricut and is fully portable. For the card maker I think this will be absolutely ideal as it is not paper fed. The machine sits on top of the paper and will cut wherever you want it to. I have a couple of unreserved ones on order so if you are interested; give me a call or have a look at the making memories website for a you tube video.
Kaiser craft continue to release new papers, embellishments and wood products which are backed up by their workshop, project book. I receive several copies of the book at the shop so if you would like one just call in.
We welcome a new wood-ware supplier in “Best Wood-ware” to the shop with their new card scorer board ( ½ the price of the plastic one) quirky wooden books, scrapbook paper storage unit, card drying racks and lots, lots more.
Just Joanna stamps will be in stock shortly, new Stampendous stamps are on their way and all the new Stamp It stamps are on the shelf. Amazing Creations stamps are available again in unmounted form, ready to go on easy mount.
If you haven’t seen the diamante monograms and numbers, they are well worth a look. They make lovely, classy personal cards and look fabulous on acetate.
We have some beautiful embossed papers from Paper source which are ideal for backgrounds and invitations We now carry a large range of envelope sizes and some great invitation ideas for both wedding and general invitations.
Now for some exciting Shop Events:
Firstly on Sunday September 14, we are holding an open day. Primarily this is to show case the cutting machines on the market namely the Cricut, Cricut expression, cuttlebug, big shot, and the new slice. This will give you an opportunity to try them out and have a look at them all in action. Just come along between 11am and 2pm to have a look, tea & Coffee will be available.
Now for the really exciting news.
On Saturday November 15th we will be holding a fun day full of action at the shop, called “ Kit and Caboodle” This day will take the format of the old PaperArts Tarts show, where you come along and purchase your pre- packed kit. Tables and chairs and tutors will be available then for you to make you to make your kit up or you can take it home to assemble as full instructions are included. We will have lucky numbers and give-a-ways all day and you will be able to make up as many kits as you like.
